Border wall: How may he fund thee…let us count the ways…

  1. Senate nuclear option: eliminate super-majority vote requirement;
  2. Reconciliation: relegates legislation to simple majority vote;
  3. Discretionary funding from multiple appropriated sources.

Senate Republicans can pull together, and with their majority numbers, pass a bill. But if recalcitrant Never-Trump’ers like Corker and Flake undermine that effort, there’s this…

…simply use existing appropriated funding: “Jason Chaffetz: Trump’s border wall may get funding after all (thanks to this dirty little Washington secret)“

According to former House Republican Chaffetz “Each year the government spends hundreds of billions of dollars on things that are not specifically authorized by Congress. Both Democrats and Republicans have been complicit in this practice.”

(bold, underline emphasis added)

And just think of the solutions an effective border wall will provide: protecting a Nation’s borders ensures stronger national security, reduces drug cartel efforts, interrupts human trafficking, reduces the dangers of harmful diseases, protects fragile environmental eco-systems from being trampled, and redirects manpower to find existing illegal migrants.

Slush fund appropriations for Homeland Security, Defense, Health & Human Services, even the Interior Department can be diverted, based on national emergency needs.

And, consider this: $5 billion sounds big, until it’s compared to the existing annual $4tn budget. 4 trillion is 4,000 billion…the $5bn being bandied about is 0.125% of it.

That’s right – 1/10th of 1% of the annual budget.

Considering the payback an effective wall solution provides, it’s crazy not to fund it.

Finally, an effective wall solution will discourage future efforts of those who use children as useful shields to try getting into America, with often tragic consequences for kids.

If nothing else, fund the wall…to stop this humanitarian crisis from continuing.

Mattis leaving…the ‘chaos’ that ain’t…

The twisted panties bunch is ranting in chorus over Mattis leaving the Trump team.

Seems odd to hear all the talk about how Gen’l Mattis is now being hailed as the adult in the room, and what a serious hit to national security this could be with his departure.

Funny…didn’t seem to be any ‘chaos’ talk when Obama fired Mattis in 2013?!?!

What serious person believes the President won’t choose a qualified replacement?

(Other than CNN et al…of course)

Uh Ohhh…looks like anti-Trump’ers need to re-define ‘caving’

“Trump calls for ‘nuclear option’ to ram border wall funding through the Senate”

Yeah…

…the anti/never-Trump crowd need to look up ‘caving’ in their dictionaries, ‘cuz if that Washington Examiner headline is accurate (and it is) that’s not what caving looks like.

House Republicans passed a bill with border wall funding, now it’s up to the Senate, and that body has a super-majority (60-vote) rule for this type legislation…

…which means Democrat votes are needed to get it passed.

But, as we noted before, the GOP Senate can change rules – like Harry Reid did.

Invoking the ‘nuclear option’ means just that…change rules to a simple majority.

Senate Republicans need to grow a spine, and get it done.

Anti-Wall hypocrisy

You can bet the leading Democrat politicians sneering at a southern border wall as ‘not effective’ themselves live in gated, secure communities – protected from the masses.

If ‘walls don’t work’ then why are THEY behind them?

A border wall is like lockable doors on a home…both keep unwelcome visitors at bay.

Next time a liberal buddy says walls don’t work, ask them if they’ll live without doors.

God forbid there should be a reasoned man appointed as attorney general…

What else is new? In a fit of predictable hysteria, Democrat senator (writ small) “Schumer calls on Trump to pull attorney general pick over Mueller memo“

That Trump nominee, you see, wrote a reasoned article on what was known as publicly available information on the obstruction charges Mueller was considering vs Trump.

God forbid a reasoned individual should be Attorney General.

Andy McCarthy has a great in-depth analysis concerning that article William Barr wrote, saying “Barr, whom President Trump has nominated to be the next attorney general, was not prejudging the facts. He was addressing the law and Justice Department policy. With great persuasive force, the 19-page memo posits two contentions. First, based on what is publicly known, the special counsel’s theory of obstruction is legally flawed. Second, if a Justice Department investigation is going to be used to take down a democratically elected president, the social cohesion of our body politic demands that it be over a clear, very serious crime, not a novel and aggressive theory of prosecution.”

“Legally flawed” prosecution is a serious matter.

Likewise, to “take down a democratically elected president” is a serious matter.

When a nominee for Attorney General is not worthy of consideration because he/she is willing to address serious matters in a forthright, open manner, it’s silly season in DC.

Especially if we consider that, on a wide range of issues liberal Supreme Court Justices like Ginsberg has opined…should she recuse on abortion and gun-ownership rights?

Schumer is a blithering idiot – a symbolic image of New York elitists.

Weighing in on legal issues is what reasoning legal minds do, Chuck. Get over it.

When was the last time a millionaire flipped your burger?

Next time your Liberal buddy complains the rich are benefitting most, give ’em this…

“Look Who’s Benefitting Most from the Trump Boom“

Key takeaway: “A recent Wall Street Journal economic analysis of current jobs reports found that worker wages were starting to rise above inflation and that the biggest percentage gains were showing up in the paychecks of the lowest income workers.”

And then, there’s this: “employment data is showing the same positive trends for those demographic groups that are often on the lowest rungs of the economic ladder: young people, those without high school degrees, Hispanics, and blacks. The Bureau of Labor statistics found that over Trump’s first two years in office, these groups experienced the largest declines in their group unemployment rates…”

The irony? “…every group that was least likely to vote for Trump has seen an abnormally large gain in jobs and wages. Our supposed racist president has delivered outsized economic gains for blacks and Hispanics – with both groups now experiencing the lowest unemployment rates in at least a half century.”

And the FINAL irony? “…income gains under Mr. Obama were mostly concentrated in those Americans in the top 20 percent of income. This is why the income gap between rich and poor rose nearly every year under Obama.”

Numbers don’t lie, but think you’ll hear any of this from the FakeNews media?
