What Cruz did with the amendment he proposed during the Senate amnesty fight stripped the ‘voting rights’ capability, the so-called ‘path-to-citizenship’ provision.

His plan was to expose Democrats as pushing amnesty just to gain voters.

He was very clear about his motives, predicting Democrats would not push amnesty if there were no voting-rights included in the legislation. And he was right.

To conflate that effort as a singular attempt to grant illegals a legal status is absurd.
