Wouldn’t a non-member of the House be the best choice for Speaker?

We’ve said it before – our Constitution doesn’t say the House of Representatives must choose a Speaker from its membership…it can be anyone (Art. I, sect. 2).

(An IBD article discussing Boehner’s replacement points out the same thing.)

House Republicans should choose a proven leader from outside Congress, who can get things done. It takes vote-pandering to constituents out of the equation.

Whoever they choose should be committed to sending legislation to Obama, veto threats be damned. Force him and his Democrat cohort to make a stand.

We don’t need any more spineless ‘reach-across-the-aisle’ Speakers.
